More proof TransFats are bad

25 March, 2008 (10:09) | diet | By: admin

Scientists at the Beltsville [Maryland] Human Nutrition Research Center (BHNRC) conducted a study of 58 volunteers. They rotated through 4 controlled diets, moderately high trans fat, high trans fat, high saturated fat, and high “heart healthy” oleic acid. Thier LDL cholesterol levels were measured each time the volunteers completed one of the diets for a 6-week period.

The results: Any trans fat raised LDL levels. The high saturated fat diet also raised LDL levels.

The questions: How many grams per day of fat did eat diet have to be classified as high or moderate fat? Also why was moderate saturated fat not included?

What can you take from this study: TRANSFATS or BAD at all levels!!! (Yes, this is just my opinion speaking.)
